The University School of Jackson is very pleased to announce Cynthia Kirsch’s hiring as its new Lower School Director. Mrs. Kirsch brings an extensive background in independent schools, from having attended one herself from Pre-K through 12th grade to serving 20+ years in leading independent lower schools in Dallas and Houston, Texas.
“The success of any organization depends upon hiring and developing excellent people. The nurturing and engaging culture of the Lower School stands as such an integral component of USJ. I am confident that our families will benefit from Mrs. Kirsch's tremendous experience and leadership as she continues to grow our committed faculty and advance our mission by meeting the needs of our Lower School students,” says Head of School Don Roe.
Mrs. Kirsch received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communications from the University of Denver. She attained her Master of Arts in School Leadership and Administration from the University of Dallas. Cynthia spent over 15 years at Prince of Peace in Plano, Texas, servings in a variety of leadership roles ranging from Teacher, Language Therapist, Curriculum Director, and Principal. She recently retired from her role as the Assistant Head of School at Beth Yeshurun Day School in 2020. Unable to step away from her passion for education, she has since spent her time refocusing her attention on classroom instruction and offering comprehensive social/emotional guidance at a Houston, Texas, therapeutic school.
“I am thrilled to be part of the leadership team at the University School of Jackson,” Mrs. Kirsch shared. “My philosophy of education is founded upon my belief that every child can achieve success. I foster a challenging and diverse educational environment where students are encouraged to be creative, responsible, and passionate about learning. I look forward to supporting the students and faculty at USJ as they grow as life-long learners.”
Kirsch’s husband, Bruce, also an educator, most recently taught both middle school and high school English, history, and social studies. The couple has two grown daughters. Mrs. Kirsch will join the USJ administrative staff on July 1.
