The University School of Jackson officially opened the doors to its new Academic Center with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Head of School Stuart Hirstein shares his excitement saying, “The USJ Academic Center was the fulfillment of a major goal of our strategic plan launched three years ago. Our new Director, Christy Glenn, is a trained professional who brings a love of helping children reach their fullest potential using what we know about brain research. We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Christy's background and expertise and are excited to be able to offer this valuable service at no added cost to our families. We look forward to watching students succeed and gain confidence at USJ and in life."
The Academic Center officially began the on-site development phase back in February and is now fully operational. The Center is dedicated to assisting students who require additional instruction outside their regular classroom setting. Christy Glenn and fellow instructors plan to use the latest research-proven instructional techniques to address a broad range of learning differences. As such, the Center functions as a valuable resource to all students, parents, and teachers in the USJ community.
“When we intentionally meet learners precisely where they are in their academic walks, then instruct them appropriately, they are able to experience success,” says Christy Glenn. “These repeated successes create students who grow to love learning.”
