The National Merit Foundation has recognized three students from the University School of Jackson ‘s Class of 2018: Tyler Bruno, Adam Davis, Eli Garey, Anjali Mahajan, and Annabelle Reese.
Tyler Bruno, is the son of Greg and Sondra Bruno. Tyler is a National Merit Semifinalist. He was selected to the NAfME All-National Honor Choirs for two consecutive years and the All-West Honor Band and Orchestra for four consecutive years. He is the President of Spanish Club, the Treasurer of National English Honor Society, and the Secretary of National Science Honor Society. He was selected to American Legion Boys' State and was elected as a city representative. Tyler plans to attend Princeton University and major in Biochemistry with a Pre-Med Emphasis.
Adam Davis, is the son of Pansy and Daniel Davis. He is a National Merit Commended Student, and a member of the National Honor Society and Model U.N. Adam has not yet decided where he will be attending college. He plans to study literature and philosophy.
Eli Garey is the son of David Garey and Connie Garey. He is a National Merit Commended Student and has been recognized as a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar. He also serves as SGA treasurer and plays football and soccer. He attended Governor’s School for Computational Physics in 2017 and is an active volunteer at Lakeshore Camp and Retreat Center. He plans to study physics and Spanish in college.
Anjali Mahajan has been a USJ Bruin since Jr. K and is the daughter of Sunny and Natasha Mahajan. She is a National Merit Semifinalist, an Upper School Yearbook Editor, SGA Corresponding Secretary, SADD Club President, and DSA Buddy Club Vice President. Last summer, she attended Girls State and the TN Governor's School for the Sciences. She has represented USJ at the TSSAA State Championships for both swimming and cross country for all four years. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania next fall with a double major in Biology and Anthropology and a minor in French.
Annabelle Reese is the daughter of Janet Reese and Richard Reese. She is a National Merit Commended Student, and attended Girls’ State in the summer of 2017 where she was elected to the House of Representatives. At school, Annabelle is a proud thespian and track runner, Vice President of SGA, President of National French Honor Society, and Upper School Yearbook Editor.
