University School of Jackson

National English Honor Society

Membership in NEHS is by invitation, extended through a local chapter on behalf of the national organization.  Membership in NEHS is an honor bestowed on individuals selected for their accomplishments in the field of English and in overall academic achievement.  The NEHS Constitution sets forth the following as minimum requirements for active membership:

  • Attend USJ the equivalent of one semester prior to being considered.
  • Complete the Fall Semester of Honors English II prior to induction.
  • Achieve a minimum of 92.5 in English prior to induction.
  • Pay $10.00 in dues.
  • Achieve an average of 92.5 overall (overall GPA).
  • Attend all meetings unless excused by the sponsor.
  • Remain in AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition.
