Students are inducted into National English Honor Society after taking Semester I of Honors English II. In order to be inducted into NEHS, a student must have the following:
In order to remain a member of NEHS in good standing, a student must remain in Honors or AP English classes, maintain an average of 90 or above, and continue to follow rules for good behavior as established by the school.
Juniors or seniors at USJ are eligible for membership in the Science National Honor Society.
Members must have and maintain a 3.5 weighted grade point average. In addition, the student must have and maintain a 3.5 weighted average in all science courses and must be enrolled in or have successfully completed an AP Science course. Each member must take either honors or AP levels of required science courses (biology, chemistry, and physics).
In order to remain in good standing, a student must maintain behavior that is acceptable to the guidelines of the University School of Jackson. Finally, members must attend one local chapter’s officer’s lecture annually.
Any senior who has successfully completed an AP history course, is in good standing at USJ, and is willing to serve is eligible for membership. There are two to three projects per year, and those who participate receive a red and gray cord at graduation.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have achieved a 92.5 average after fall semester are eligible to apply for membership in the University School of Jackson chapter of the National Honor Society. The final list of students eligible to apply is dependent upon a disciplinary status check. Members must maintain a 90.0 average to remain active in the club. All club members are expected to participate in NHS service projects.
