Welcome to University School of Jackson.
The true USJ experience extends well beyond the classroom, art studio, stage, athletic fields, and even the campus. It is our approach to learning, which completes the USJ experience and, ultimately, helps shape core values, which last a lifetime.
In the classroom, and in our local and global communities, our students learn the importance of service above self. They also learn how to think critically, to clarify their ideals and personal values, and to acquire the ability and willingness to make a difference. While our strength is our academic program, many learning opportunities are provided, all of which help prepare our students for success in the 21st century. The process is personal; the results are priceless.
Our mission statement, which we regard as key to the lifetime success of our students, states that we seek to "instill a passion for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence while committing to personal integrity, mutual respect, and life-long learning." The mission is implemented through the values adopted as the cornerstone of the USJ learning experience: Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Excellence.
While our programs are impressive, the School’s greatest strength is its people. Our learning community is comprised of people who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students. Similarly, USJ attracts outstanding students who inspire each other to excel. Parents are an integral part of campus life, too. Parents visit campus often to attend productions, cheer for our teams, host events, and volunteer countless hours.
A visit to our website can never really replace the human connection that is so integral to this educational community. We hope you will visit our campus to see for yourself what makes University School of Jackson a special and supportive place to learn and grow.
Thank you and enjoy the journey.
