Great Year-End for the Dunn Family

When The Jackson Sun announced end-of- year honors, the Dunn family found themselves claiming not just one but two titles. Recent USJ graduate Addison Dunn was named Female Athlete of the Year, while her father, Coach Brian Dunn, earned the title of All-West Tennessee Softball Coach of the Year.

Addison, who played both soccer and softball for the Lady Bruins, was previously named the All-West Tennessee Girls Soccer Offensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-West Tennessee First Team in softball. During her senior soccer season, she helped the Lady Bruins’ soccer team reach the Division II-A semifinals with 36 goals and 20 assists. Her softball season was just as successful, with the team finishing third in the Division II-A state softball tournament. Addison had a .574 batting average with 41 runs scored, 27 RBIs, 11 extra-base hits and 42 stolen bases.

Soccer will continue to be a huge part of Addison’s life, as she has signed to spend the next four years playing at Union University.

Brian, meanwhile, will continue on with his success on the softball field. In the last seven years, he has led his team to six state tournament appearances where they have won two state titles, finished runner-up twice, and finished third twice. He will miss coaching Addison on the softball diamond but is excited to watch her take the soccer field with the Lady Bulldogs this fall.
