Jenny L. Pritchett
Junior Cubs through First Grade Physical Education
Jenny Pritchett begins her third year at USJ teaching physical education to Jr. Cubs through first grade students. She is also the head coach for Middle School Girls Basketball. This is her fifth year overall to teach P.E. and third to coach.
Jenny holds both a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance: Sports Management, and a Master of Science in Education: Teaching Advanced Elementary, from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Her professional memberships include the National Education Association (NEA), the Tennessee Education Association (TEA), and the Tennessee Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (TAHPERD).
Her physical education class combines teaching age-appropriate fine and gross motor skills, games, and sports with social skills that are key in this setting. Fitness and health awareness at this age, in her opinion, “is a by-product of learning in this environment”. Mrs. Pritchett says: “Teaching physical education is so rewarding because you can physically see the students’ progress. Every week they learn something new that they are excited about and that is a very satisfying experience.”
“I enjoy teaching at USJ because of the positive learning environment provided for students, the support for professional growth from the administration, and the parental involvement that helps make this school such a success.”
She is married to Holt Pritchett, a lender at First South Bank in Jackson.
