Star Mansfield

Junior Cubs

Star Mansfield, who has 20 years of experience in early childhood education, has been at USJ for 13 years. She was owner and director of her own preschool center for five years. This year, she is teaching USJ's youngest students, the Junior Cubs.

Mrs. Mansfield is a member of the Southern Early Childhood Association; and the Association for Early Childhood International. Her teaching credential as a Child Development Associate (in early childhood) was awarded through the National Credentialing Program of Professional Recognition from Washington, D.C. Mrs. Mansfield has her early childhood teaching certificate through the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Her teaching philosophy includes using a “developmentally appropriate practice based on age and stage of development for each individual child.”

She believes in having an open door policy in her classroom and welcomes calls, emails, and visits from her parents.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Blake, have four children: Brent, 24, attends Mississippi College Law School; April, 22, goes to Baptist College School of Medicine; Katie, 19, is at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville; and Grant, 17, goes to USJ.

She likes teaching at USJ because of the professional atmosphere, excellent students, and parental support.
