Junior Kindergarten

Hayley Haynes, an educator for 15 years, has been at USJ for 12 years and currently teaches junior kindergarten.

She received her bachelor degree from Lambuth University in Psychology and her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Freed-Hardman University. She completed the Early Childhood Institute of Learning at Union University and is certified to teach grades preschool through 8th.

"I believe that happy childen will be eager to learn," she says. "I teach with an uplifting attitude and use positive classroom discipline. My job as a educator is to reach every child and show them how to use their talents in a classroom setting."

"I also try to teach skills in a variety of ways. For example, I will use manipulatives (hands-on learning) and give individualized attention as much as possible. I believe that every child is intelligent and valuable."

Her daughter, Caroline, is a student at USJ.

She enjoys working at USJ because it is rewarding to see how much her students learn each day. "I believe USJ is a special place!"

“Our children have the opportunity to learn and to play and to become socialized,” Karen says. “I am here to nurture our children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.”

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, David, have been married for 26 years. "Plain and simple, I love my job and love working at USJ. Our Headmaster, Directors and support staff are fantastic. They have all created a happy and safe learning environment. The best part about my job is being surrounded by the children and being able to witness that big or small learning experience he or she may have each and every day."
