Jack Peel
Facilities Director, Baseball Coach

Jack Peel, facilities director, is the varsity baseball coach. In his first year of coaching at USJ, the baseball team won a state championship.

Peel, the former University of Memphis baseball standout, most recently served as the Director of Football Operations at Arkansas State University. At ASU, he helped guide the football team to the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Championship and to the 2012 GoDaddy.com Bowl.

In addition to his work with the ASU football program, Peel has coached on the collegiate level for 12 years including stops at the University of Memphis, Lyon College, Trevecca Nazarene University, and Lambuth University.

While with the Memphis baseball program, Peel assisted Coach Jeff Hopkins in leading the Tigers to the 1993 GMAC conference championship. In 1994, he helped lead the Tigers to a school record 52-11 season that culminated with a bid for the first time in more than 20 years to a NCAA Regional. While at Memphis, he coached two NCAA All-Americans and four MLB draft choices, including former major leaguer Mark Little.

During his time at Lyon College, Coach Peel helped lead the baseball program to a school record 48-20 season with a No. 4 national NAIA ranking along with two NAIA regional selections. He coached six NAIA All-Americans and 15 TranSouth All Conference members at Lyon.

Peel played two years at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi. After being an eighth-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1984 MLB winter draft, he was selected to the Mississippi Junior College All-State Team following his sophomore season. In 2005, he was inducted into the Northwest Mississippi Community College Athletic Hall of Fame.

His final two seasons of collegiate play were spent at the University of Memphis (then Memphis State) where he was selected to the All-Metro Conference Team in 1986 as an outfielder.

After college, he signed as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox. He played four seasons with the Sox and two seasons with the Texas Rangers.

Peel is a University of Memphis graduate with a business degree in marketing. He also worked for FedEx as an operations manager for 10 years. He has two children: Shelby and Rhett, who is at student at USJ.
